Post-post-doc
Six years has become the standard duration spent post-doc-ing in Astronomy. Is this too long? Please discuss.

That's way too long, but I don't know enough about the funding systems in astro to propose a solution.
I don't know -- two postdocs is standard, and if they're each three years long, that works out to six years. I think three years for one postdoc is good -- it lets you relax a bit the first year, get stuff done, and actually settle into where you're living.
Maybe the crappy part is where two postdocs, and not one, is the standard.
