Lt. Sulu's getting married!

Too geeky not to mention:

Actor George Takei, best known for his portrayal of Lt. Sulu on Star Trek, has announced his upcoming marriage to longtime partner Brad Altman.

Thank you CA supreme court, for letting Lt. Sulu get married.

My friend and I were talking about how he and his partner of (how many years? forever?) can finally get married when people like Britney Spears are able to have 24 hour marriages just because she's straight.

About. Damn. Time.

It's about bloody well time indeed. I don't know what's wrong with people that they're so afraid of Teh Gay. Seriously. What the hell.

Update: George and Brad were the first couple to get a marriage license Tuesday in WeHo. The ceremony is scheduled for Sept. 14 in Los Angeles.

Worth mentioning that George Takei, at age 5, was illegally sent with his family to a Japanese-American internment camp. He credits growing up behind barbed wire, imprisoned because of his race, as the motivation for his years of civic activism.

Amazing the societal changes a person may witness in his lifetime.
