Good quote

"The Universe was a PhD thesis that God was unable to successfully defend."
- James Morrow, "Only Begotten Daughter"

Anyone who hasn't read Morrow's novel "Only Begotten Daughter", get yourself a copy. The Creation Museum, and the death of Jerry Falwell, both bring to mind the chapter where an army of fundies, armed with weedwhackers and hedgeclippers, massacres the infidels of Atlantic City, NJ.

It was the hedgeclippers that got me. I'm having a copy delivered tomorrow.

Oh, Jenny F., you've made my day.

It's like Oprah's book club, but with millions fewer readers, and an angry anonymous science dyke rather than a billionaire talk show host.

My faves of Morrow's are "This Is The Way The World Ends" and "The Wine of Violence", personally.

Ky, I should put "Wine" on my summer reading list.

The short story "The Deluge" has two scenes so vivid that I remember them perfectly, ~7 yrs later.

Just finished reading it. My goodness, what a surreal novel. Thanks bunches for the recommendation! Our own mini science book club.

Jenny F., any books to recommend to us?

Jim Morrow once invited my writing group to his house -- a lovely old, creaky Victorian FILLED with books and comfy chairs to read them in.
